Everything you need to know about our Phnom Penh food tours

Are you running tours in Phnom Penh during Covid-19?

We are not running tours in Phnom Penh right now. We hope to open again in the future, but please come take a Siem Reap food tour in the meantime.

HOW LONG DO THE TOURS LAST?

Morning tours start every day at 8 a.m. and are over around 11:30 a.m. or noon. Evening tours start at 5:45 p.m. and are over around 9 or 9:30 p.m.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Our tours cost $65 USD per person. The price of the tour includes all of your food, drinks, and transportation during the tour.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN A TOUR ACCOMMODATE? CAN I DO A PRIVATE TOUR?

In order to provide a truly personal in-depth experience, we usually limit our tours to small groups of up to four people in the morning and six people in the evening. For an additional fee, we can give you an entirely private tour, by prior arrangement. We can also organize private tours for larger groups.

Can you ACCOMMODATE solo travelers?

Our minimum tour capacity is two people per tour. Solo travelers can email us to find out when other tours are scheduled so they can join a shared tour, or they can make a booking for two.

CAN KIDS GO ON A TOUR?

As long as they are comfortable with a little bit of walking, yes! The cost for kids 5 to 11 is $35, and kids 4 and younger can come for free, as long as they can sit on their parent's lap in the tuk tuk. If there are children in your group please include a note in the questionnaire with their ages and anything else you think we should know.

IS CAMBODIAN FOOD SAFE?

We only include restaurants and vendors on our tours that we know well and that maintain hygiene standards that meet our criteria. Guests can be confident that what they eat on our tours will be safe as well as delicious. Note that stomach upsets are not uncommon among visitors to Cambodia, even those who only dine at fancy hotels. Standard precautions are always a good idea, but when you tour with us, you can enjoy authentic Cambodian cuisine worry-free.

CAN YOU ARRANGE A VEGETARIAN OR PESCATARIAN (FISH-ONLY) TOUR?

We are happy to accommodate vegetarians—our morning tour offers the most vegetarian options and we strongly suggest that vegetarians and vegans choose this tour. When booking, please let us know whether you eat eggs, fish, or are willing to try a little bit of fish sauce. Pescatarians will have no problems; just let us know in advance.

WHAT ABOUT A TOUR FOR THOSE WHO EAT GLUTEN-FREE? OR A RED MEAT OR PORK-FREE TOUR?

We can organize tours that are gluten-free and/or don’t include pork or red meat. Do let us know in advance, please, if you have special dietary requirements and we will do everything possible to meet your dietary needs.

WHAT ABOUT A TOUR FOR THOSE WITH ALLERGIES?

We can accommodate guests with most food allergies. But those severely allergic to peanuts, shrimp, and certain other foods commonly used in Cambodia face the risk of cross-contamination and are advised not to venture on a food tour, and we cannot assume responsibility for those whose allergic reactions may be severe. If you fall in that category, please email us before you book a tour.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MORNING AND EVENING TOURS?

Our morning and evening tours are unique experiences with completely different itineraries. Our morning tour focuses on Cambodia's breakfast culture and its lively wet markets. The morning tour offers lots of wonderful photographic opportunities.

On our evening tour we "dine around town," visiting several hole-in-the-wall and family-run restaurants and a night-time food market as well as trying some of Phnom Penh's best street food.

WHAT’S YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Tours that are cancelled at least 7 days in advance will receive a full refund, while tours cancelled at least 3 days in advance will receive a 50% refund. Please read our full cancellation policy and liability release.

How do I book?

Because our tours are small, if you'd like to tour on a particular day we recommend booking in advance. Tours can be reserved up to 30 days in advance.

You can reserve a tour on booking page using a credit card. We use secure US-based credit card processor Stripe for all bookings. If you are in Cambodia, we also accept local WING payments.

WHAT ABOUT Siem Reap?

Our sister tour is in Siem Reap, where we offer morning and evening tours. They are completely different, so don’t be afraid to do both! You can learn more and make a reservation at siemreapfoodtours.com, and find out how to get from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap.
